About Jake

I am a positive, charismatic sustainability advocate with over 5 and a half years of experience in driving positive changes in organisations and communities.

My passion is to grow senses of hope and empowerment, helping others regain clarity on what a better future looks like, and connecting them to the possibilities and positive actions we can take to get there.

Jake Causley

My core values are positivity, radical approaches, responsibility, and the natural world.

I bring a wealth of personal and professional commitment to sustainability, supported by a diverse range of experiences spanning sustainability, regenerative practices, as well as engagement and communications. I have delivered workshops and training programmes to businesses and communities, designed institution-wide approaches and resources, and contributed to the outreach and organisation of national campaigns.

I am a strong public speaker and group facilitator, with a unique positive, energetic and kind approach to communication. I tailor content to audiences, seek to build on shared values, and deliver content that inspires and empowers audiences, unlocking collective potential.

I am keen and able to travel across the UK and Europe for in-person engagements, and can offer my services online as well.

Curator of Award-winning Sustainability Initiatives

As part of my role as Sustainability Coordinator for Falmouth University, I designed and delivered resources, approaches and initiatives that were recognised as leading in the higher education sector, as part of the Green Gown Awards UK & Ireland.

In 2022, our annual sustainability report was the winner of the ‘Reporting with Influence’ category; I co-created this simple, engaging resource which placed transparent communications at its core.

In 2023, our ‘Falmouth Curriculum Ladder for Sustainability’ tool and approach was a finalist in the ‘Tomorrow’s Employees’ category; I led the development and roll-out of this multi-function tool which helped define what embedding sustainability into education means, provided a way of measuring success, and helped upskill staff and students through growing their understanding of the relevance of sustainability to their discipline.

In 2024, our ‘Swap Shop’ initiative was a finalist in the ‘Creating Impact’ category; I oversaw this project from concept, to cross-institutional collaboration, to reality and the significant positive impacts it created - and estimated 3.8 tonnes of carbon saved, over 1,700 items redistributed, and nearly 550kg of resources saved across six separate campaigns.

Force of Nature Facilitator

In 2021 I underwent training to become one of the first Facilitators for ‘Force of Nature’ CIC (‘FoN’) - one of the leading organisations transforming mindsets for climate action, particularly amongst young people.

This training equipped me with the research, knowledge, tools, and skillset to help myself and others understand the links between the climate and ecological crises and our mental health, together with how we can more effectively cultivate agency and design and deliver meaningful action. Since my training, I have delivered flagship ‘Eco-anxiety to Agency’ and ‘CPD Training for Educators’ workshops on behalf of FoN, led their flagship ‘Becoming a Force of Nature’ training programme, and curated my own emotional resilience events, resources and training in my workplace and community.

I have accrued a wealth of experience in creating and facilitating safe, supportive spaces, and helping young people, working professionals and business leaders build resilience strategies.

Mighty Oak Guardian

This accolade celebrates the people who go above and beyond to help Plant One Cornwall, a Cornish woodland creation CIC. I brought about a partnership with Falmouth University, connecting Plant One to students and staff, empowering the next generation of woodland warriors, and getting 500 trees in the ground. Outside of this, I continue to regularly give time to support the CIC in volunteer management and partnership development - oh, and planting new woodlands of course!
